Back to the 80s

At cornerstone our aim is simple, ‘to enable the people we support to enjoy a valued life.’  Everyday across Scotland we support people with disabilities and other support needs to become more independent and be active in their community.

The Cornerstone Cycle Challenge 2010 is going "back to the '80"s.  Teams will be on a cycle tour (using static bikes) round locations related to some significant – and more obscure – events from 1980 which was the year that Cornerstone was founded.  The challenge will last for 30 days – one for each of the years that Cornerstone has been in existence, - and aims to raise a record amount through sponsorship in this, our birthday year!  Thanks to the generous support of BG Group every penny raised by you will be spent on providing support for people with disabilities and other complex needs in our communities.

What is it?

The Cycle Challenge raises funds for Cornerstone through participants generating sponsorship, while at the same time promoting health and fitness.  This is a test of stamina, determination and team work which involves teams cycling as far as they can on static bikes.  There are 47 stages to the tour and each team can set their own personal target distance rather than having to complete the whole challenge.  At the end of the challenge there will be a Grand Award Ceremony on Thursday 7th October.

When is it?

The Challenge will run for the thirty days from 1st September 2010 to 30th September 2010.  Registration for team is open from Monday 12th July until Friday 13th August.

How can I get involved?

For more information about the challenge, email us on cyclechallenge@cornerstone.org.uk or give one of the team a call on 01224 238433.

What will Cornerstone do with the money I raise?

Cornerstone is a charity which has spent the last thirty years caring for people who need our support.  We are proud of our aim which is "to enable the people we support to enjoy a valued life", and our staff througout Scotland work 365 days a year providing care and support in your community.  This may be helping people into work or training, caring and supporting people in their own homes or running playschemes for children.   Whether the need is great or small, we pride ourselves on providing a quality service to adults, young people and children with disabilities and other support needs throughout their lives. By raising money for us through taking part in the cycle challenge you will be helping us to continue doing this important work into the future.
